Hotel Directions
Puerto Montt’s main air entry point together with the Chilean Lake District is through El Tepual International Airport (PMC). The airport lies some 16 kilometers to the west of downtown Puerto Montt. It takes a drive of around 20-30 minutes from the airport to Hotel Diego de Almagro. The most convenient and safest options will be using official airport taxis or private transfers that have been pre-booked (transfer companies are common). Ride-hailing apps, among which Uber also works here, provide another good option.
Minibuses or shuttles travel directly from the airport to Puerto Montt’s main bus terminal. This is another low-cost alternative. From the Terminal de Buses, it is about a 15-20 minute walk to the hotel or otherwise just a very short and inexpensive taxi ride. Arriving without an automobile is quite feasible.
If you are traveling on a long-distance bus from other Chilean cities such as Santiago, or Bariloche (Argentina), you will be arriving at the main Terminal de Buses. As already mentioned, the hotel is within very easy walking distance of the terminal. For those of you who may be arriving by car, Puerto Montt is at the southern end of Chile’s main Route 5 (Pan-American Highway). The hotel is extremely easy to find, being directly on the main waterfront avenue (Avenida Diego Portales) and has that all-important free and secure on-site parking available.
